1. Name, phone #, and e-mail: nope...
2. What’s your major? What year will you graduate? Social Studies with 8-12 teaching certification, graduate in the spring
3. Why did you choose a photography class (or photography as a major), and what do you hope to learn from school in general and this class specifically? I have always liked photography. I thought I might be able to learn a few tricks to help me take better pictures.
4. What are your goals after graduation? Please list your goals in reverse order, starting five years out, then three, two, one, and six months. Well, this could go one of two ways... I could be a well known musician in five years or I could be well into my teaching career. Three years is pretty much the same story, but I would just be getting comfortable as a teacher. Two years from now I would be starting my career as an educator. A year from now I will be a college graduate after many years. Six months from now, I will be student teaching and still playing music on the weekends.
5. What artists, musicians, photographers, writers, movies, books have influenced you/your work? It would take me all day to list my musical influences. A few would be my dad, my granddad, Cliff Burton, Victor Wooten, Post Oak Savannah ( check them out if you like southern rock), The Allman Brothers, and I can't leave out the folks I share a stage with, Amanda, Cari, Thad, and Daren aka ShutDownTown!
6. Where do you get information about current national and international events? AP, Reuters, BBC, Al Jazeera, and various other sources. I try to avoid CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. These are too biased, I just want the facts.
7. Are there any important websites that you are referencing for art/photo competitions and/or information? my weeks are filled with my music so www.shutdowntown.com is the site I use to keep up with where I'll be....
8. What museums and/or galleries have you been to in the past year? Wish I had time...
9. Have you had any photo projects and/ or training in the past? no formal training
10. What is the value of art for the artist? I think that is different for every one. For me, art serves as an emotional release. I leave everything I have on the stage every single show.
11. What is the value of art for the audience? This once again depends on the individual. Everybody gets something different from the art.
12. Is photography a vocation or an avocation? For me it is definitely the latter. I'm by no means a pro.
13. What is your passion? In case you haven't figured that out, playing bass is more than what I do. I AM the bass player.
14.What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable? Bears... you can't outrun one, you can't swim to get away, and they climb trees... Most people would say they fear death or failure. Death is unavoidable, as is failure. I've been in places where death was a part of everyday life. I've failed enough to know it will happen again. I don't have to like it, but I can learn from it.
15. Do you have a passport? I need one....
